A Grand "Union" day Out.

Members do occasionally leave the tranquillity of their club premises in Temple Street and face the rigours of other venues for pub lunches in the countryside. Other treats include going to the races at Towster or nearby county cricket matches but nothing compares with a recent expedition along the Grand Union Canal. To see our intrepid “boaters” click the picture.

The Aylesbury Literary Club stands in the midst of the hurry and bustle of a busy town. For over a hundred years it has been a quiet oasis, and an important link in the business community. From the earliest days the objects of the Club were 'the promotion of social intercourse and the provision of refreshments'. This still holds true today.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE – The Aylesbury Literary Club are pleased to announce the club will reopen under Covid-19 rules Stage 3 from Monday the 17th May 2021. Members are welcome to return but no details have been advised on numbers allowed in the club at any one time so members should check with our Steward if pre-booking is necessary.

Lounge

Within the Club there is a comfortable lounge-bar that is accessible to members at all times with the bar open between 12 noon and 3pm. The ground floor is shared with our principal tenant Temple Street Wine Bar, which conveniently supplies food for the club bar.

On the first floor is the snooker room housing two excellent and professionally maintained tables. Annual Snooker & Billiards competitions.

Quite a few members are keen golfers and each year a number of tournaments are held. Several trophies are competed for, amongst them the Foley Cup.

Snooker Room

In recent years Aylesbury has changed dramatically - new businesses, new faces, and there are many who are unaware of the Club's existence. For that reason we are always looking to introduce it to a wider audience.

Normally we have the service of our Steward, Les Williams, looking after the members between 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm on weekdays. Prospective members may call by appointment between these times when Les will be pleased to pass details of our club membership while observing social distancing procedures,

Presently our online membership enquiry service is suspended. It seems many idle hands find it pleasing to to misuse this facility. After the Corona virus pandemic is declared over we will re-introduce this service but incorporate an “I am not a robot” check back function. Please keep well and come back to this site in better times. Meanwhile, you may contact us using the Royal Mail or dropping a note in our letterbox at the address given below.
